Mark Wilson - Director
In 2007 Mark completed his Honours Degree at the Monash University Academy of Performing Arts following his undergraduate degree also at Monash. For his Honours, he played Danforth in The Crucible, Claudius in Hamlet, Chebutkin in Three Sisters, Dionysus in The Bacchae (all directed by Peter Oyston) and Sideway in Our Country's Good (directed by Kate Cherry). Since then he stage managed Beta Life at 45downstairs, The Underwood for Doorslam Productions and produced Midsumma's short play competition Pink Shorts, toured to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in An Air Balloon Across Antarctica and performed at the Shakespeare on the River Festival in Stratford, Victoria. During his undergraduate degree he directed Antony and Cleopatra and The Merchant of Venice and performed in the self-devised work Rachel's Performance.
Jenny Lovell - Director
Jenny has been performing on stage, screen and TV for over 20 years. TV includes Prisoner, Blue Heelers, MDA and Sensing Murder. Film work includes Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli and Darkness Falls. Theatre includes Iron, Dead Tragic and Rabbit Hole as well as a long career in improvisation, performing in Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. Jenny is also a teacher of Shakespeare, contemporary text and performance making with Monash University, VCA and St Martins and has directed productions of Comedy of Errors, Our Country’s Good and Grimm Tales. She was an International Fellow with the Globe Theatre, London in 2002.
Emily Collett - Costume Designer
Emily began her theatrical career in year 7 when she starred as a singing rat in Portland's Bayview College production of Rat Race. Her interesting singing style (disappointingly) didn't gain her the fame she had hoped for, so she decided to explore other avenues. After leaving RMIT in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts: Interior Design, Emily more recently graduated from the Design School at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2007. Most current design work includes Distant Lights from Dark Places (VCA with Glenda Linscott), Riders to the Sea (VCA Directors Season with Alex Papps), costumes for Sondheim and Wheeler's A Little Night Music (VCA musical theatre with Martin Croft), A Midsummer Nights Dream (Preferred Play Company), costumes for Our Country's Good (Preferred Play Company in Adelaide and Melbourne), costumes for Romeo and Juliet and Richard III (Complete Works Theatre Company's in-school tour), and set design for Inky (Theatreworks with Jacquelin Low).
Sarah Kelly - Production Manager
In 2007 Sarah was a part of the Academy of Performing Arts graduate ensemble and worked under the artistic direction of Peter Oyston. Sarah has stage managed the plays; The Revengers Tragedy, dir Michael Coe. Debut tr:2, dir Bryan Davidson-Blue. The Crucible, dir Peter Oyston and provided technical assistance to Threepenny Opera, dir Peter Oyston. Cosi, dir Jeff Hood. Camino Real, dir Chris Snow. Sarah was the stage/production manager for Tapped-Into productions Violent Delights, dir Penelope Parsons-Lord which toured from Old Melbourne Goal to Monsalvat. Recently Sarah Production managed Doorslam Productions Australian premier of The Underwood.
Vanessa Cole - Stage Manager
anessa’s 2008 credits include the writing and direction of Doorslam’s first show The Underwood, dramaturgy for Naomi Edwards’ Oedipus DNA and assistant direction of short film Joshua, having graduated from an Honours degree in Performing Arts in March. Vanessa is passionate in exploring all areas of theatre making; from centre stage to back stage, and looks forward to igniting an intrigue about theatre within the wider Australian audience.
Marita Davies - Stage Manager
Recently completing her Honours in Performing Arts with the Monash Graduate Ensemble, Marita is thrilled to be on the stage again. Playing the role of Dabby Bryant/Aboriginal/Faddy in Our Country’s Good, Osric in Hamlet and a chorus member of a modern adaptation of The Bacchae, Marita has worked extensively under Kate Cherry, Debra Lawrence and Peter Oysten’s direction. Currently working as a children’s performer during the day, Marita is also a trained musician. After focusing on acting in the last year, Marita has made her way back into the bio box. Her behind the scenes work includes stage managing The Three Sisters and Naughty Like Nice as well as directing roles in Hamlet, Borneo, The Rubik’s of Conversation and Tales From Vienna Woods. Whilst juggling these Marita has also composed music for the productions The Bacchae, Tales From the Vienna Woods and 33/85 - Other Elements.
